About the position

We are seeking a talented and experienced Product Owner to join our Product & Technology team. You will be working on a microservices-based platform in the fintech space, covering payment processing, card management, and employee benefits services. The role involves translating product vision and strategy into clear, prioritized, and actionable work for our Engineering teams, and making sure every sprint delivers real, validated value to our users.

You will report to the Product Manager and work daily with Engineering, QA, Design, Data, and Customer Support.

Key responsibilities

Backlog Management

  • Own, maintain, and prioritize the product backlog based on business priorities and technical constraints.
  • Translate high-level requirements from the Product Manager into user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Continuously refine backlog items to ensure clarity, feasibility, and alignment with sprint objectives.
  • Remove ambiguity by collaborating with engineers and designers before development begins.

Sprint Planning and Execution

  • Lead backlog refinement and sprint planning sessions with Engineering and QA.
  • Define sprint goals and ensure alignment between the Product and Engineering teams.
  • Validate deliverables and provide timely feedback to maintain sprint velocity.
  • Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Ensure the Definition of Ready and Definition of Done are consistently applied.

Requirements Clarification and Documentation

  • Write and maintain clear, testable user stories with acceptance criteria and business rules.
  • Specify behaviour beyond the happy path, including validation rules, error states, and edge cases.
  • Provide ongoing clarification and support to developers throughout implementation.
  • Keep documentation in Jira and Confluence updated, accurate, and easily accessible.
  • Support QA by ensuring that all acceptance criteria are verifiable and traceable.

Delivery Assurance

  • Verify that developed features meet business, functional, and UX requirements before release.
  • Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) together with QA.
  • Ensure releases are delivered within agreed timelines and quality thresholds.
  • Support the Product Manager in post-release validation and performance review.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or in a similar role within a software product environment.
  • Solid understanding of Agile delivery frameworks (Scrum, Kanban) and hands-on experience running the associated ceremonies.
  • Proven track record of writing user stories, acceptance criteria, and business rules that development teams can build from without guesswork.
  • Proficiency with Jira and Confluence.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and facilitation abilities, and genuine empathy for both end users and business goals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English.

Desired, but not mandatory

Technical understanding will be considered a strong plus, in particular

  • Working knowledge of RESTful APIs, including reading an OpenAPI or Swagger specification, understanding request and response payloads, status codes, and authentication, and testing an endpoint in a tool such as Postman.
  • Comfort with data, including reading a database schema and writing or interpreting basic SQL.
  • Background in fintech, payments, banking, or other regulated industries.
  • Experience with mobile applications (iOS and Android) alongside web products.
  • Familiarity with payment rails, card issuing, or PSP and banking integrations.
  • Experience collaborating with Design teams in tools such as Figma.
  • Product Owner certification (CSPO, PSPO, or equivalent).

Benefits

  • A dynamic working environment
  • Lots of benefits: FlexOne, Fitpass, Private medical plan, breakfast (yes, you read that correctly!)
  • A full-time, indefinite contract
  • Location: Athens' Headquarters
