Responsibilities

The HVAC Specialist is a senior-level professional responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing HVAC systems throughout the healthcare facility to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant environmental conditions that support patient care and building operations.

  • Install, inspect, maintain, repair, and optimize HVAC systems, including air handling units, chilled and heating water systems, rooftop units, ventilation equipment, and associated controls.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex HVAC, mechanical, and control system issues to maintain system reliability and performance.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, testing, and system adjustments to maximize efficiency and equipment lifespan.
  • Monitor and maintain protective air environments, supporting infection control and regulatory requirements.
  • Respond to HVAC emergencies and equipment failures to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation to support installation, maintenance, and repair activities.
  • Collaborate with engineering, safety, construction, and facility teams to ensure compliant and effective system operation.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance, testing, inspection, and regulatory documentation.
  • Mentor junior staff and promote safe work practices and technical excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, building codes, OSHA requirements, and applicable HVAC, mechanical, and life safety standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid Oklahoma HVAC contractor license, or two years as a hospital mechanical journeyman HVAC technician.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of related experience in healthcare or similar complex environments
  • Experience mentoring or guiding junior mechanics
