C0236 - Civil Engineering Scholar Wage

Kick-start your career with VDOT! VDOT’s Civil Engineering Scholarship Program offers civil engineering students the opportunity to gain valuable, real-world work experience, earn money over the summer, and receive fall and spring semester stipends of $3,500 to assist with educational expenses. Scholar Program participants spend summers working in a challenging and interesting VDOT position, receiving hands-on work experience within a variety of disciplines and geographic areas, under the direction of a professional engineer. Upon graduation, scholars transition into the Employee Development and Growth Experience (EDGE) Program, a full-time, one or two-year position with varied work assignments. Stipends are issued based on continued program eligibility. VDOT will disperse the funds prior to the start of each semester. Scholars are required to work six months for every semester a stipend was received (up to two years).
