Logistics Technician (Equipment compliance assurance)

Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future.

Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer, a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security.

We currently have an opportunity for a Logistics Technician (Equipment Compliance Assurance) in Adelaide, SA or Henderson, WA to support Continuous Naval Shipbuilding projects, on a maximum term basis.

What You’ll Do

These roles offer a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including

• Assist in identifying Alternate Parts and confirming Form-Fit-Function (FFF) equivalence.
• Support MARSPT with Technical Assessments of Alternate Items of Supply.
• Conduct onboard audits of ship-fitted Certified Items, Engineering Register data and associated OQE, including Combat System OQE.
• Audit Registerable Plant and collect, assess and register associated OQE, with a focus on hydraulic, pneumatic and pressure systems.
• Conduct condition assessments of removed and returned equipment to determine refurbishment, re-test requirements and remaining service life.

What You’ll Bring

• Experience supporting ILS, maintenance, logistics or engineering activities within Defence, maritime or other complex technical environments.
• Knowledge of equipment compliance, technical audits, Engineering Registers and associated OQE requirements.
• Understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic and pressure systems, including associated safety and compliance considerations.
• Experience auditing technical data and validating ILS information against installed equipment baselines.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively, provide accurate advice and escalate actions in a timely manner.

Due to the nature of the work, the successful applicant must be an Australian citizen and hold and maintain an AGSVA Security Clearance, as required by the Commonwealth. In some cases, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) may also be required.
