About The Role

Job Summary

The Diabetic Educator-RN is a nurse who functions in the role of clinician, educator, and consultant. Assesses, implements and documents developmentally/culturally appropriate education to meet the learning needs of the diabetic patient/family. Collaborates with other disciplines, patients and families to develop an outcome based, age/culturally appropriate, family-centered plan of care. The position practices under the direction of the designated Nurse Executive, within the scope of the California Nursing Practices Act, and in accordance with the policies of Valley Children's Healthcare.

Qualifications

Education

  • College Degree - 2 year Graduate from an accredited nursing program (required)
  • College Degree - 4 year Nursing (preferred)

Licenses and Certifications

  • RN - Registered Nurse License - CA-BRN - California Board of Registered Nursing (required)
  • BLS - Basic Life Support - AHA - American Heart Association within 30 days of hire or transfer into position (required)
  • CDCES - Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist - CBDCE - Certification Board for Diabetes Care & Education (preferred)

Work Experience

  • Minimum one (1) year Related experience (required)
  • Minimum two (2) years Related experience (preferred)

Skills and Abilities

  • Bilingual Skills Preferred.
