We are seeking a talented individual to join our Mercer Tech at Marsh Tech. This role will be based in Gurugram. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

As a Lead Software Developer at Mercer, you will play a key role in shaping our future in the rapidly evolving field of, scalable Shared Services that incorporate AI capabilities. Collaboration is essential, as you will work within a team that follows Scaled Agile methodologies. We are seeking a self-motivated and delivery-focused individual with a strong technology background, where experience in AI integrations and prompt engineering will be advantageous, to help us grow our talent and drive innovation in this exciting sector.

We will count on you to

Ensure Shared Service requirements are gathered accurately, fully understood, and communicated clearly to all stakeholders, with transparency on impacts and dependencies.
Design, develop, and support secure, scalable backend and frontend services using Phyton, Node.js, NestJS, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
Implement authentication and security solutions leveraging JWT, SAML/OIDC, Okta integration, Microsoft EntraID and Passport / Passport-SAML concepts.
Build and maintain data persistence layers using Postgresql, MongoDB and Mongoose to deliver robust and reliable application functionality.
Develop automated tests and support quality assurance practices using Jest, NestJS testing patterns, class-validator, and class-transformer. Including documentation, and usage guidance to ensure shared services are easy to adopt, maintain, and support.
Integrate applications using Express, including body-parser and cookie-parser, and work effectively with NestJS guards, hooks, modules, and dependency injection.
Use Git, npm ecosystem, and environment configuration management effectively to support local development, testing, and delivery.
Write high-quality, maintainable code aligned to Agile user stories and established engineering standards, while leveraging AI development productivity tools such as GitHub Copilot where appropriate.
Troubleshoot and resolve development and integration issues, with a focus on performance, authentication, and service interoperability.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, serving as a role model and supporting their growth within the team.
Collaborate with peers to foster a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and engineering excellence.
Champion Agile practices that support effective product delivery and strong team collaboration.
Build and maintain strong relationships with product owners, solutions architects, analysts, and leadership to ensure alignment of technical solutions with business objectives.
Leverage emerging technologies, including AI, to solve real-world challenges and enhance our software solutions.
Provide technical support to consumers of the Shared Services for existing issues and recommend enhancements to current solutions.

We are seeking candidates with a proven track record in developing multiple products/services, ideally those that incorporate AI technologies. The ideal candidate will possess:

Strong Self-Starter and Team Contributor : A proactive individual who takes initiative in their work, embraces a model of continuous learning to stay updated with industry trends and technologies, and actively contributes to team success by collaborating effectively and sharing knowledge with colleagues.
Diverse Software Delivery Experience : A successful history of delivering software across a variety of languages, technologies, and platforms, with familiarity in AI frameworks and libraries being a plus.
Agile Methodologies : Experience with Agile at Scale, Lean, and Continuous Delivery methodologies to drive efficient development processes.
Cloud-Native Architecture Knowledge : Familiarity with cloud-native software architectures, particularly in deploying solutions on platforms such as AWS and Microsoft Azure, with an interest in AI applications.
Security-Driven Design Practices : Understanding of security-driven design principles and experience addressing SAST/DAST findings, especially in relation to AI data handling and model security.
CI/CD and DevOps Proficiency : Proficiency in CI/CD and DevOps practices, including the use of Quality Gates to ensure high code quality.

Technical Skills or Qualifications Required

Extensive Programming Experience : Proven experience with multiple programming languages and frameworks, with deep expertise in at least one of the following: JavaScript, TypeScript. Familiarity with AI programming languages such as Python is a plus.
Framework Proficiency : Strong experience with frameworks such as Nest.js, Express.js, and familiarity with AI frameworks like LangFlow or LangChain.
Prompt Engineering Skills : Solid experience with engineering prompts to effectively interact with AI models, optimizing their performance and output for various applications.
Testing Expertise : Proficient in Unit Testing and Integration Testing, including the ability to test AI solutions and their integrations effectively.
Container Technologies : Experience with container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes, to enhance scalability and efficiency.
Middleware Technologies : Familiarity with any of these middleware technologies such as Kafka, Camunda, Temporal, AWS Lambda Durable function, AWS Step Function and RabbitMQ is needed.
Design and Development Practices : Demonstrated experience in refactoring, implementing design patterns, design-driven development, continuous integration, and application security.
SDLC Knowledge : Solid understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes and practices, with experience using tools such as SharePoint, ADO, and GitHub.
Cloud Infrastructure Experience : Experience designing and deploying applications/shared services on cloud infrastructure with providers like AWS, including S3 storage.
Stack Knowledge : Knowledge of the MEAN stack, with an interest in leveraging this technology for AI-driven applications.
Senior developer with 7-11 years of experience in software development, solution design and development, plus delivering high-quality technical projects/services.
