About The Role

The Complex Care and Recovery Program is currently seeking a full-time temporary (until March 10th, 2028) Registered Nurse to work in the Therapeutic Neighbourhood program. The Therapeutic Neighbourhood offers clients choice in programming, greater exposure to other clients facing similar issues, and more opportunities to help clients reach their recovery and wellness goals.

This service is delivered to inpatients to provide group-based support and treatment; therefore, the successful candidate will be skilled in appropriately identifying, assessing and addressing the therapeutic and programming needs of clients attending programming in the Therapeutic Neighbourhood. You will also actively contribute to special programming projects as required and related to Therapeutic Neighbourhood, and will support the quality initiatives and research activities of the program. You will be expected to provide supervision to nursing students, collaborate with university nursing faculty and students on special projects related to evidence-based best practice in the Nursing field. The successful candidate will support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable regulatory requirements and legislative requirements. The successful candidate will be expected to work day-shifts, evening-shifts and weekend-shifts.

The successful candidate must be registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario and be in good standing. A current B.C.L.S. (CPR) certificate is also required. Preference will be given to candidates who possess CNA certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing. You will have two years of nursing experience. Preferred experience in psychiatric/mental health nursing. The successful candidate will have experience developing and delivering group based programming, working in an inter-professional team and will bring clinical experience in working with clients with a wide range of mental health issues and acuity. The nurse will have comprehensive group facilitation skills, knowledge of recovery-oriented care, trauma informed care, psychosocial rehabilitation, forensic psychiatry, and, program evaluation. Interventions focused upon risk reduction, the enhancement of protective factors and that are integrated into a comprehensive risk management plan is considered an asset. An understanding of the impact of the unique experiences of clients with complex mental illness, especially those with additional legal involvement on their overall mental health and well-being is critical. This role will work in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario practice standards, CAMH policies and Practices Model and the Canadian Standards of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Practice. Experience within an Inpatient setting is an asset. Preference will also be given to those with community nursing experience, and a comprehensive understanding of Recovery principles and their application to client service. You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and work within a collaborative and diverse inter-professional team. Effective decision-making, organizational, and problem solving skills are required. Knowledge of emergency psychiatry and crisis intervention principles are required. The ability to work with clients of diverse cultural and social backgrounds is necessary. Computer literacy is required and must be comfortable delivering programming virtually. Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.

Salary Range: $41.15-$58.98/hour
