About The Role

Job Summary

  • Completes preventative maintenance and/or basic repair activities on engines and related components at the customer site with minimal direction.
  • We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician to join our Distribution business in (Elko, NV).

  • Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop

  • Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools

In order to be successful in this role you will need the following

  • Primarily engaged in maintenance or basic repairs/diagnostics
  • Requires direct supervision and review of workmanship quality
  • Demonstrates an understanding on access to engine repair process information sources.
  • Understands after-treatment system and can identify major components and their function at a rudimentary level.
  • Has worked on external components on a diesel engine and understands the basic concepts.
  • Has some knowledge of engine diagnostic software
  • Occasional assignments working underground to support mining business
  • Active daily participation in safety processes
  • Thorough documentation of repairs including recording unit information and detailed repair/troubleshooting steps as necessary
  • Working nonstandard shifts in support of business needs as required(nights/weekends)
  • Timely submission of service documentation
  • Show up on time at shop or at assigned work location
  • Working rotating shift schedules in support of mining customer
  • Frequent communication with customers and supervisors when working remotely
  • Independent management/reconciliation of compony issues credit cards
  • Proactive scheduling of PTO/time off
  • Flexibility in short notice scheduling changes including out-of-town assignments
  • Attention to clean work habits at the end of shift and throughout the shift
  • Complying with federal DOT laws while operating company vehicles - including ELD devices
  • Professionally communicating/representing Cummins to the customer
  • Complying with management directives as needed in support of business operations
  • A current valid license is required for this role
  • Must be 18 years old with 2 years driving experience
  • This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations

Education, Licenses, Certifications

  • Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred).
  • Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution.
  • Locally valid driving permit.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience

  • Minimal level of workshop related experience required.
  • Basic level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products.
  • Locally valid driving permit.
