About The Role

Job Responsibilities

  • Weighing and Ticketing: Weigh inbound and outbound vehicles on industrial scales to calculate gross, tare, and net weights, and print accurate scale tickets or bills of lading.
  • Customer and Driver Interaction: Greet drivers and customers enthusiastically, verify load contents and material grades, and direct vehicles to appropriate loading or unloading zones.
  • Administrative and Data Entry: Log shipment data into computer systems, maintain daily shipping and receiving logs, and reconcile paperwork at the end of each shift.
  • Communication and Coordination: Answer multi-line phones, relay messages, and maintain radio or CB contact with yard supervisors and dispatchers regarding traffic or safety alerts.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure all visitors and drivers follow facility safety rules, wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), and adhere to site protocols.
  • Cash Handling (if applicable): Process public scale fees, manage basic cash transactions, and complete daily cash reconciliations.
  • Process tare, gross, and net weights accurately.
  • Weekends and night work is a possibility.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous customer service, cashier, office, dispatch, scale-house, or quarry experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn company-specific software.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with customers, truck drivers, and quarry personnel.
  • Ability to multitask and remain organized in a busy environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations involving weights, quantities, and prices.
  • Must be dependable and maintain regular attendance.
  • Preferred previous experience working at a rock quarry, aggregate facility, ready-mix operation, asphalt plant, or construction-related business.
  • Preferred experience operating a truck scale or scale-house software.
  • Preferred experience with customer orders, dispatching, invoicing, or sales transactions.
  • Preferred familiarity with aggregate products and construction materials.
  • Preferred experience working with commercial truck drivers and trucking companies.
