## Description
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join our team in the Palm Oil downstream industry. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in Civil and Construction Engineering, with at least 5 years of relevant experience. The Quantity Surveyor / Estimator will be responsible for accurately estimating project costs, managing budgets, and ensuring cost-effective project execution. This mid to senior level role requires a keen attention to detail, exceptional analytical skills, and a deep understanding of construction practices within the Palm Oil downstream industry.
Accountabilities & Key Results Areas
- \- Conduct thorough cost analysis for projects within the Palm Oil downstream industry, including civil construction, infrastructure, and facility development.
- \- Prepare accurate and comprehensive quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and budgets for projects at various stages of development.
- \- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to understand project requirements and scope, and to align estimates with project goals.
- \- Source and analyze quotations from suppliers and subcontractors, negotiating favorable terms to optimize project costs.
- \- Monitor and manage project budgets throughout the lifecycle, tracking expenses, identifying variations, and ensuring adherence to financial targets.
- \- Evaluate and recommend value engineering opportunities to maximize cost efficiency without compromising quality or safety standards.
- \- Prepare detailed progress reports, cost forecasts, and financial summaries for management review.
- \- Provide support in contract administration, claims management, and change order negotiation.
- \- Keep up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and market fluctuations that could impact project costs.
- \- Mentor and guide junior members of the team in estimation techniques, best practices, and industry knowledge.
Education and Skill Levels
\- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
\- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Quantity Surveying and Estimation, preferably within the Civil or Construction Engineering side of the Palm Oil downstream industry.
\- Proficiency in using industry-standard estimating software and tools.
\- Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with an ability to interpret complex technical documents and drawings.
\- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
\- Familiarity with relevant construction codes, regulations, and safety standards.
\- Detail-oriented and organized, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
\- Problem-solving mindset and a proactive approach to identifying cost-saving opportunities.
\- Leadership qualities and the ability to guide and mentor junior team members.
