Founding Electrical Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a founding engineering role at a Y Combinator–backed wearable startup, where you'll own the full electrical and board design for a consumer wearable device. Sitting at the heart of a small, fast-moving hardware team, you'll be the person who takes the electronics from early prototype to production-ready hardware — a high-impact position with real ownership as the company scales.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Own end-to-end electrical and PCB/board design for the wearable device.
• Iterate rapidly through device revisions in response to testing, user feedback, and production requirements.
• Drive consumer hardware from working prototype through to mass production.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• At least 3 years of hands-on experience in PCB/board design and embedded hardware.
• A track record of shipping physical consumer electronics products end-to-end.
• Strong background in sensor integration and consumer-grade hardware development.
• Experience working in fast-paced, resource-constrained hardware environments.
• Background from consumer electronics, wearables, or similar hardware-focused companies is a strong plus.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Salary of $150,000 USD annually, plus up to 1–2% equity as a founding team member. No new visa sponsorship — H-1B transfers are supported.

LOCATION

On-site in New York, United States (San Francisco also considered). This is an in-person role.
