About The Role

The Ninth Judicial District is seeking to fill a Court Operations Supervisor position within the Crow Wing and Aitkin County work unit.

The Court Operations Supervisor leads the day-to-day operations of the Court, administering and enforcing all relevant rules and policies. Reviewing, evaluating, planning and streamlining daily functions and working with the public, judges, court sta ff , partnering with county and state agencies to ensure that cases are processed in a timely and accurate manner.

Work is performed under the general supervision of the court administrator and is reviewed through conferences, reports, and on the basis of the results obtained.

Example of Duties - What You Will Do

  • Supervise sta ff including, hiring, training, coaching, reviewing, disciplining of sta ff .
  • Supervise matters relating to the maintenance of financial control over receipts and disbursements.
  • Provide orientation and training to sta ff members regarding new rule/legislation that impact all divisions.
  • Develop and recommend policies and procedures to comply with statutes and procedures that impact record retention and accessibility; change unit procedure or policy to simplify work processes so the unit works more e ffi ciently or to comply with statutes.
  • Maintain employee personnel records and payroll.
  • Maintain equipment, supervise division purchases and budget.
  • Train and oversee employees on case and individual document confidentiality/public access.
  • Develop and implement management principles and operational strategies to improve workflow e ffi ciencies, team cross-training and customer service in a high- volume environment.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, justice agency partners, and other court divisions to build trust, increase e ffi ciencies and ensure the fair and timely processing of court processes.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager.

  • High school diploma or graduation from a vocational school or equivalent
  • Considerable experience as a Supervisor, Court Clerk Leadworker, Court Operations Associate, or equivalent work in a court, legal setting, or other fast-paced, high- volume, and technology-dependent environment
  • Extensive knowledge of Court Administrative Processes Paralegal, Associate, or bachelor's degree in criminal justice, Political Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Considerable knowledge of e ff ective supervisory and management techniques
  • Skill in e ff ective team building, planning and/or supervising the work of others in a remote work environment.

  • Considerable knowledge and experience planning and implementing projects, initiatives, and tasks in a high- volume, fast-paced environment.

Supplemental Information

The hours for this position will be between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday; hours may vary depending on business needs.

The expected starting salary for candidates is $34.40 per hour to midpoint of the salary range, depending on qualifications. This position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for State of Minnesota employee benefits .
