About The Role

Director Strategic Sourcing – External Manufacturing at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) will play a pivotal role in expanding and scaling our next-generation cloud services. As a leader of the External Manufacturing Sourcing Team, you will make strategic decisions that impact supplier cost, technical capabilities, and supply availability, ensuring the delivery of critical hardware to our customers. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring a reliable, cost-effective supply of External Manufacturing partners while driving sourcing strategy, supplier performance, inventory optimization, and cross-functional execution. The Director will lead a team of Sourcing Managers and partner closely with Engineering, Operations, Finance, Manufacturing, and suppliers to support business growth and capacity requirements. The ideal candidate has proven experience sourcing server component hardware, strong supplier relationships, and robust hardware infrastructure expertise. You will develop and communicate strategic sourcing category plans, enabling effective cross-functional alignment. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills are essential, as you will represent Oracle Cloud to senior leaders and executives at key suppliers.

  • Lead sourcing strategy and supplier management for External Manufacturing across Oracle's global cloud infrastructure.
  • Manage and develop a team of Sourcing Managers, providing leadership, coaching, and career development.
  • Ensure the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials to meet business and customer requirements.
  • Drive supplier performance, including capacity planning, delivery, quality, cost management, and risk mitigation.
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies that improve supply continuity, reduce costs, and support long-term business objectives.
  • Partner with Planning, Engineering, Operations, and Finance teams to align supply chain activities with demand forecasts and infrastructure deployment plans.
  • Monitor inventory levels and implement strategies that balance supply availability, working capital, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead efforts to identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including capacity constraints, component shortages, and supplier-related issues.
  • Establish and maintain policies, procedures, and material management processes that improve scalability and operational effectiveness.
  • Coordinate global procurement activities and supplier engagement across multiple regions.
  • Partner with Finance to manage inventory investments, carrying costs, and supply chain financial performance.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across sourcing, planning, inventory management, and supplier operations.
  • Build strong executive-level relationships with strategic suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Assists in the development of short, medium, and long term plans to achieve strategic objectives. Regularly interacts across functional areas with senior management or executives to ensure unit objectives are met. Ability to influence thinking or gain acceptance of others in sensitive situations is important. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Attention to detail and ability to multitask. Ability to travel as needed. Demonstrated leaderships skills. BA/BS degree or equivalent. Advanced degree desirable.
