Injury Prevention & Recovery Coordinator

Our Injury Prevention & Recovery Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting the health, safety and wellbeing of our people. Responsible for providing first-line injury treatment, rehabilitation, and ongoing injury management on site, this role helps ensure a safe and healthy workplace where risks are effectively managed and employees receive the support they need to recover and return to work safely.

In this people-focused position, you will apply best practice injury management and occupational health principles to minimise the impact of workplace injuries and illnesses. You will triage injuries and medical events, coordinate rehabilitation and return-to-work plans, promote a positive health and safety culture, and work proactively to prevent injuries through health and wellness initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide timely and effective first-line treatment and injury management in accordance with best practice occupational health and health and safety standards.
• Assess, triage and respond to workplace injuries and medical events, ensuring appropriate care and follow-up support is provided.
• Support injured employees throughout their treatment, rehabilitation and return-to-work journey, promoting safe and sustainable recovery outcomes.
• Administer work-related and non-work-related injury management activities, including ACC and rehabilitation processes where applicable.
• Promote health, safety and wellbeing initiatives that support injury prevention, early intervention and employee wellness.
• Assist in identifying injury trends, contributing to hazard identification and risk reduction strategies to prevent future incidents.
• Maintain accurate, secure and confidential injury, medical and rehabilitation records.
• Partner with Department Leaders, employees and relevant stakeholders to ensure effective communication regarding injury status, recovery progress and workplace accommodations.
• Support the organisation's commitment to fostering a strong health and safety culture by encouraging safe work practices and employee wellbeing.

Ōu Pūkenga | About You

Ideally you would have experience in first line treatment and/or injury claims management; and be familiar with the ACC claims process and requirements. You will be able to identify opportunities to reduce the risk of injury in our work environment; maintain regular, streamlined communication with Department Leaders and injured persons to advise them of their obligations and what to expect; and be a strong advocate for health and safety and support in the workplace.

• An understanding of ACC and the Accredited Employers Programme
• Able to communicate and develop relationships with people from a range of backgrounds
• Current First Aid certificate would be beneficial
• Basic knowledge of physiotherapy/rehabilitation principles would be advantageous but not essential
• Computer literate and able to maintain accurate, private records of all health matters on site
