Assistant Coach -Men's Basketball (part-time)

About The Role
This person serves as an assistant men’s basketball coach. This position reports to the Head Men’s Basketball Coach. This person will operate with a committed understanding that in the pursuit of athletic excellence we also seek to develop students for Christian life and service. This is a part-time position and pays a stipend of $9200.
Primary Responsibilities
- Coaching Leadership
- Assist basketball coaching staff in practice planning, instructing, and reviewing practice video
- Assist basketball coaching staff in game preparations
- Comply with the mission and vision of Wheaton College; adhere to all College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin and NCAA rules and regulations
- Assist in scouting of opponents and preparation of scouting reports to team
Secondary Responsibilities
- Spiritual Leadership
- Encourage and develop personal relationships with student-athletes
- Encourage a holistic environment for the well-being of student-athletes
- Serve as a consistent role model and resource for student-athletes
- Administrative Leadership
- Assist the head coach in administrative duties as needed
- Assist the head men’s basketball coach with planning/budget for Lee Pfund Classic, team meals during away games, and team transportation.
- Assist head coach in all aspects of the recruiting process including evaluation of prospects, visit coordination, and ongoing recruiting communication (i.e. calls/texts/mailings)

Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree;
- Ability to recruit quality student-athletes at the college level;
- Good communication skills;
- A commitment to the values of NCAA Division III athletics and Christ-centered education;
- Strong organizational skills;
- Competency in MSOffice computer programs; and
- High school or collegiate athletic experience preferred.

Physical Requirements
- The person in this position must be able to drive/transport athletes, set up and take down basketball equipment, and lift, move, and carry up to 25lbs.
