About the Role
Durham Health is seeking an organised, proactive, and detail-oriented Practice Administrator to join our team in a part-time permanent capacity.
This is a pivotal role within the practice, working closely with the Practice Manager, clinicians, reception team, and support staff to ensure the efficient day-to-day running of the clinic. You'll be responsible for a broad range of administrative, financial, operational, and practice support activities that help deliver an outstanding experience for our patients and team members.
We're looking for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in delivering high-quality administrative support, and can confidently manage multiple priorities in a busy healthcare environment.
What You'll Be Doing
- Provide administrative support across the practice, including clinic systems, patient portals, appointment books, and communications.
- Monitor shared inboxes, support practice operations, and provide reception cover when required.
- Manage healthcare claims (ACC, PHO, Southern Cross), patient accounts, refunds, debtors, and financial administration processes.
- Assist with payroll administration, reporting, audits, and day-to-day clinic financial activities.
- Support Health & Safety, Cornerstone accreditation, clinic performance monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with the Practice Manager and wider team to ensure the smooth, efficient operation of the practice and delivery of excellent patient care.
About You
You'll be an experienced administrator with excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues, patients, and external stakeholders.
You'll bring
- Previous administration or coordination experience
- Strong organisational, time management, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Confidence using Microsoft Office and digital systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- A positive, adaptable, and customer-focused approach
