Skills Required - Photography Lab Assistant

Required: Familiarity with Apple computers and Photoshop. Organizational skills and an ability to multi-task. Ability to follow supervisor’s directions and work independently on tasks. Someone that is comfortable handling and cleaning up chemicals. *The chemicals used in the darkroom have safety guidelines, but the mixtures are mild.

Desired Skills: Inkjet printing for photographs, identifying different camera types and other related equipment, and advanced uses of Photoshop & Lightroom. Basic understanding of how a darkroom functions. Applicable knowledge of lab safety and environmental measures. The lab assistant can be trained in these areas as needed for this position.

Skills Required - Gallery Assistant

Assistant often staff the reception area in the gallery. They greet visitors, answer questions and field inquiries. Because they are often the first people visitors encounter at a gallery, assistant must be personable, knowledgeable about artists and upcoming exhibits and ensure that visitors do not damage any works in the gallery. Work studies are required to work all reception, which are held in the evenings on Thursday's. They are responsible for the setup and cleanup.

Gallery assistants typically help with the physical installation and de-installation of exhibitions.

Skills required for the position

Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently are extremely important. General knowledge of MS office is also desired.
