Job Description

The Position

We are looking for a technically strong, customer-focused Software Product Manager to help drive process automation software for our Sample Prep & Analysis / SPA portfolio.

This role will work closely with Product Marketing Managers, Applications, R&D, Engineering, and commercial teams to translate customer needs, workflow challenges, and market opportunities into clear product and engineering requirements. The focus will be on customer-facing software, process automation applications, and semiconductor/electron microscopy workflows.

The successful candidate will help drive prioritization for an Agile Release Train, balancing near-term business needs, customer commitments, technical tradeoffs, and long-term strategic goals. This person must be able to clearly communicate the business motivation behind product decisions while engaging effectively with technical teams to assess feasibility, dependencies, and execution risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Product Marketing Managers to translate customer needs, market requirements, and business opportunities into actionable product requirements.
  • Define and communicate product priorities for SPA process automation software and customer-facing workflow solutions.
  • Drive Agile Release Train prioritization, balancing customer value, business impact, technical feasibility, quality, and long-term roadmap objectives.
  • Work closely with Product Owners, Engineering, Applications, UX, QA, and R&D teams to ensure requirements are clear, feasible, and aligned with customer needs.
  • Gather, synthesize, and communicate Voice of Customer input from semiconductor customers, strategic accounts, field teams, applications teams, and internal stakeholders.
  • Engage directly with customers to understand workflows, pain points, adoption barriers, and unmet needs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve customer productivity, ease of use, reproducibility, throughput, and workflow automation.
  • Work with stakeholders to identify where and how AI can be meaningfully integrated into customer-facing solutions, with a focus on solving real customer problems and improving workflow outcomes.
  • Support roadmap planning, release planning, customer validation, beta programs, and launch readiness activities.
  • Monitor semiconductor, electron microscopy, sample preparation, software, automation, and AI trends to inform product direction.
  • Clearly communicate product priorities, business rationale, and customer value to both technical and non-technical stakeholders across global teams.

Requirements

  • BS in a technical field such as Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Materials Science, or a related discipline; MS, PhD, or MBA preferred.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in product management, product ownership, applications engineering, systems engineering, semiconductor technology, microscopy, automation, scientific instrumentation, or a related technical field.
  • Experience translating customer needs into software, automation, or engineering requirements.
  • Experience working with highly technical customers and cross-functional development teams.
  • Strong understanding of semiconductor workflows, electron microscopy, sample preparation, or related advanced technology markets.
  • Experience with automated TEM sample preparation methods is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Agile software development, SAFe, PI planning, or scaled engineering organizations preferred.
  • Ability to influence across global, matrixed teams and communicate effectively across business, technical, and customer audiences.
  • Experience working successfully across international sites, cultures, and time zones.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% globally, including to the United States and customer sites.

Preferred Background

Strong candidates may come from product management, product ownership, applications engineering, systems engineering, or other customer-facing technical roles. Experience in semiconductor workflows, electron microscopy, automated TEM sample preparation, process automation, or scientific software is especially valuable.

Key Competencies

  • Strong product judgment and ability to prioritize in complex environments.
  • Customer empathy and ability to identify the underlying problem behind feature requests.
  • Technical credibility with engineering, applications, and scientific stakeholders.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with practical execution.
  • Clear written and verbal communication.
  • Strong influencing skills in a global, matrixed organization.
  • Comfort making tradeoffs across customer urgency, business value, technical feasibility, quality, and long-term architecture.
  • Bias for action, ownership, and measurable customer impact.
