07 Role Scope

S&P Global's Research Operations Calling Team conducts primary and secondary research on newly established firms and gathers information on existing firms within the asset management industry. The team is responsible for client data inquiries and works on various high-value client projects. The team oversees the collection, mapping, and maintenance of client, vendor, proprietary company, contact, fund, ownership, and relationship data.

The team also collects and maintains data that provides insights into institutional investors, investment managers, and ownership structures across global financial markets. Information is gathered from regulatory filings, company websites, public disclosures, vendor sources, notifications, press releases, and direct outreach activities. This information is transformed into usable intelligence that helps clients make informed decisions and gain a competitive advantage.

What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)

  • Perform high-quality data extraction, collation, validation, and analysis for company and investment-related profiles.
  • Conduct primary and secondary research on asset management firms, investment managers, institutional investors, and other market participants.
  • Communicate directly with external stakeholders and business professionals through Mandarin/Chinese and English outreach channels, including telephone calls and emails, to collect, verify, and update information.
  • Support investigation of firms and professionals not currently covered in internal databases.
  • Review company websites, regulatory filings, public disclosures, prospectuses, industry publications, press releases, and other sources to identify relevant information.
  • Validate and maintain business, contact, ownership, fund, and investment-related information within internal databases.
  • Resolve internal and external client queries accurately and within established timelines.
  • Identify new information sources and contribute to enhancements of data collection methodologies and operational processes.
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, accuracy, completeness, and timeliness across assigned projects.
  • Communicate regularly with team leaders and colleagues regarding project status, priorities, and workload management.
  • Support translation, interpretation, and contextual understanding of Mandarin-language business and corporate information where required.

How Impact Will Be Measured (Success Metrics) In this role, you will work closely with global teams to ensure the highest levels of data quality, timeliness, and completeness. You will leverage your Mandarin language/Chinese skills to conduct research and engage directly with external stakeholders through phone and email outreach. You will gain valuable exposure to data collection, business research, market intelligence, and financial services while working in a diverse and collaborative environment.

For This Role You'll Need to Have (Skills & Competencies)

Education

  • HSK Level 4 (Intermediate) or higher, or equivalent Mandarin Chinese language proficiency.
  • Candidates with higher levels of Chinese language certification will be preferred.

Language Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in Mandarin Chinese and English.
  • Ability to confidently conduct professional conversations, and outreach activities over phone and email.
  • Strong reading comprehension skills for Mandarin-language business documents, websites, and public information sources.

Experience

  • 1+ year of experience in research, data collection, market intelligence, language services, translation, localization, customer outreach, business operations, or related fields preferred.

Financial & Research Knowledge

  • Basic to intermediate understanding of financial markets and investment terminology preferred.
  • Familiarity with asset management firms, institutional investors, private markets, capital markets, buy-side firms, or sell-side firms will be an advantage.
  • Ability and willingness to learn financial concepts relevant to the role.
  • Comfortable reviewing financial and business-related information from public sources.

Preferred Education

  • Previous experience involving outbound calling, email outreach, business research, data operations, or client interactions.
  • Exposure to financial services, asset management, investment research, private markets, capital markets, buy-side, or sell-side organizations.
  • Experience working with multilingual content, business intelligence, or market research projects.
