Sr Engineer Test Technician

About The Role

Our products include, but not limited to thermostats, SMOKE/CO/HEAT/GAS detectors and strobes.

The Engineering technician will support the design engineering team with project development activities. This includes soldering, testing, programming devices, assembly of devices, etc.

JOB DUTIES

  • Performs and coordinates product validation according to Product Quality, design engineer's direction, test procedures, product specifications and regulatory standards.
  • Independently manages diverse workloads and comfortable with escalating conflicting priorities.
  • Prepares test reports, analyzes discrepancies and makes recommendations to Product Quality and design engineers for the product performance.
  • Conducts activities in a safe and healthy manner and works in accordance with established Resideo Safety requirements to ensure the protection of associates, the public, and the environment.
  • Takes actions necessary to 'stop' work when an unsafe condition or action is identified.
  • May perform other duties as required.

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Electrical, Electronics or Electromechanical technical experience.
  • Experience with product design testing.
  • Good understanding of both mechanical and electronics/electrical test equipment.
  • Experience with the use of test equipment like oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, hand tools, calipers, micrometer, environmental chambers, ESD simulators, Surge equipment, etc.
  • Experience using a microscope, modifying prototypes, soldering components, cutting/jumping traces.
  • Cognizant of ESD considerations when handling electronics.
  • Experience assembling and programming devices in preparation for testing.
  • Ability to communicate test results using Office Tools, Outlook, photos, etc.
  • Ability to set up tests following wiring diagrams using appropriate wire gauge, wire splicing equipment, wire nut sizes and the proper use of power tools.
  • Ability to lift 35lbs and climb ladders when necessary.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision, with latitude for independent action and decision making.
  • Ability to take direction and be a self-starter.
  • Ability to present findings in a Team setting.
  • Good communication skills in English both written and verbally.

WE VALUE

  • Proficient computer skills; Office 365, JIRA and product development systems.
  • Ability to work with a number of designers and balancing competing priorities.
  • Desirable experience in performing tests such as lightning, oscillatory transients and electrical-fast transients.
  • Familiarity with reading schematics is a plus.
  • Experience with:
  • Line volt product testing between 120-240V.
  • RF products testing for design validation is a plus
