Job Title: Senior Surveyor

Reporting to: Mine Manager

Business Unit / Function: GGM

Department: Mining

Why This Role Matters

Maintains survey equipment in proper working order, sets it up correctly, replenishes required materials and supplies, and operates surveying equipment to collect and record accurate survey data for further processing.

What You Will Deliver

Survey Execution

  • Uses survey equipment to establish sight points and determine elevations and distances for mining operations.
  • Operates theodolites, laser levels, and other surveying equipment to take measurements and collect survey data.
  • Records collected data, performs required calculations, and submits the results to the supervisor for further processing.

Survey Data and Drawings

  • Prepares hand drawings of surveyed areas showing elevations, distances, and transitions.
  • Inputs survey data into SURPAC for analysis and the development of plans and information for future mining.

Equipment, Safety, and Work Control

  • Maintains survey equipment in proper working order, sets it up correctly, and replenishes survey materials and supplies.
  • Observes safety regulations and monitors Helpers compliance with safety instructions.
  • Executes related duties in line with defined procedures and craft standards, keeping the supervisor informed of work progress.

What Success Looks Like

  • Survey measurements, calculations, records, and drawings are accurate and submitted for further processing.
  • Survey data is entered into SURPAC and available to support mining plans and future mining activities.
  • Survey equipment remains correctly set up, maintained, and supplied for field operations.
  • Survey work and Helper activities comply with applicable safety instructions and defined procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of secondary education (12 years), followed by two years of formal training leading to a diploma in surveying technology.

Experience

  • Five years of surveying experience in the mining industry.
