About The Role
The Book Production Administrative Assistant will accurately and effectively perform a variety of administrative, production and miscellaneous responsibilities pertaining to the production of braille book publication from start to finish.
Essential Duties
- Reflects Clovernook’s mission, vision and core values in daily interactions with consumers, staff, as well as all internal and external constituencies.
- Shares agency news for everyone without email.
- Enter new books into scheduling software.
- Enter book production status information into Clovernook scheduling software.
- Enter book production status information into NLS MediaPulse software.
- Print and distribute updated book schedules.
- Maintains book warranty replacement report.
- Order book division raw materials and general office supplies.
- Maintain book division raw material inventory.
- Create all shipping labels and packing slips for NLS books.
- Emboss, perform OBR (Optical Braille Recognition) comparison, and prepare regular book control copies for shipment to NLS Quality Assurance.
- Emboss regular book production volumes.
- Rivet books into hard covers.
- Remove pages from covers of print books for Print/Braille books and cut to size.
- Emboss print/braille plastic pages.
- Collate print and braille pages for print/braille books.
- Drill rivet holes for print/braille book covers.
- Cut labels and materials as needed on industrial cutter.
- Follow all safety procedures and promote a safe work environment.
- Maintain positive relationships with co-workers and supervisors.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Job Requirements
- HS Diploma or GED.
- Proficient P/C skills (MS Word, Excel, etc).
- Ability to learn basic braille words and numbers a must.
- Must have a good command of the English language.
- Strong reading & writing skills.
- Ability to lift 25 lbs.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Basic math skills and ability to read labels, packing slips, cartons, etc.
- Post-offer, pre-employment drug screening, and criminal background check.
