ABOUT THE ROLE
The Senior
Coordinator, PLT Canada provides support for all of PLT Canada’s programs and works to support our national growth. This will be done through collaboration among the environmental education, careers, and communications teams, and the successful candidate will contribute to increasing Canadian outreach for SFI and PLT Canada. Daily responsibilities include but is not limited to program management for PLT Canada programs and grants, collecting and analyzing data, coordinating and delivering environmental education and career pathways presentations, and providing communications support on forestry, standards and conservation related topics.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Environmental Education
- Deliver student and teacher facing workshops in English and French (if applicable)

- Implement and advance PLT Canada’s program evaluation strategies to best communicate successes and reach
- Manage PLT Canada accounts and Salesforce data management
- Career Pathways
- Support the Manager, Forest Education and Career Readiness with re-developing and administering PLT Canada’s flagship mentorship and Youth Delegates programs
- Strengthen the connection between PLT Canada’s Mentorship, Youth Delegate, and Green Jobs programs to advance reach and impact nationally, including a focus on recruitment from SFI-certified organizations
- Support the planning and delivery of webinars and online professional development opportunities for young professionals
- Outline evaluation opportunities to track the long-term effects and results of PLT Canada programming
- Grant management
- Summarize and synthesize data for reporting to ensure accurate and punctual submissions
- Ensure all grant data is accurately incorporated into Salesforce and tracked with the IT and operations teams
- Support the coordination between programs and help bring a forestry lens to grant management
- Support the SFI and PLT Canada teams in ensuring products and programs are accessible to identified communities
- Identify and coordinate presentations at Education and Career conferences/events
- Support communications materials, such as newsletters, blog posts, press releases, one pagers, etc.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will not initially have direct employee supervisory responsibilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Physical requirements include the ability to work from a desk at a computer for prolonged periods of time. Occasional lifting/carrying of up to 10/15/25 pounds. Subject to sitting, standing, reaching, walking, twisting, and kneeling to perform the essential functions.
This position requires occasional travel to in Canada and to the US, up to 25% of time .
WORK LOCATION
This position is based in Ottawa, Ontario. Employees located withing commuting distance of Washington, DC or Ottawa are required to work from the office 2 days per week, with Tuesdays and Wednesdays as designated in-office days. For the remaining days of the week, you may choose to either work from the office or remotely from your home. SFI reserves the right to increase in-person days to three or more days per week in the future.
WHAT YOU BRING
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Relevant work experience considered in lieu
- At least two years’ work experience in a related field.
- Experience working with numbers and tracking and analyzing data required.
- Direct experience in the forestry, natural resources, or education sectors preferred.
- Experience working with youth and exposure to career pathways for youth an asset.
- Knowledge of and familiarity with information systems and technology, including Microsoft Office suite and WordPress; advanced level of expertise with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint preferred; capacity to learn new applications.
- Bilingual (French and English) preferred.

- Content Management Systems (CMS) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) familiarity (particularly WordPress and Salesforce) preferred.
