About The Role

Job Description Summary

As a premier New Product Introduction (NPI), the Next Generation Products (NGP) team is fast-paced and focused on setting new standards for Edison Works.

The NGP Advanced Lead Engineer is responsible for the technical and execution leadership for hot hardware spanning all design phases across the NPI lifecycle—from requirements and design through review readiness, cost-out and hardware delivery, test, certification/qualification, and integration into downstream technical deliverables.

In this role, you will own hardware within a module with the expectation of broader team technical mentorship and leadership. You will collaborate cross-functionally (engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and project) to design, source, and deliver parts on time aligning with Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.

This role is 100% on-site/in-person and reports to an Engineering Manager in Evendale, OH.

Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Execute the design, analysis, and evaluation of assigned components for advanced military products
  • Adhere to business standards, practices, procedures, and product requirements
  • Leverage prior mechanical design experience and broaden knowledge of one's own technical discipline to meet product deliverables within schedule and budget constraints
  • Demonstrate systems-thinking mentality to understand how work of one's team integrates with others to achieve product requirements
  • Exhibit autonomy to make decisions within a defined requirements framework while resolving design challenges in situations which require technical knowledge and judgment
  • Review designs and consult with senior technical leaders for evaluation of work
  • This role requires sound interpersonal skills to develop strong internal and external customer relationships by serving as an interface point within GE

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in engineering from an accredited university
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a mechanical design or mechanical analysis engineering position
  • This role requires the successful candidate to maintain a US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. Citizenship. Preference will be given to candidates who currently hold US Government Security Clearance.

Desired Characteristics

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in mechanical, aerospace or similar engineering from an accredited university
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a mechanical design engineering position.
  • Possess an existing US Government Security Clearance
  • Highly motivated, passionate about the NGP mission, and with strong communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve technical challenges with sound reasoning, project planning, execution, and documentation
  • Experience with finite element analysis software such as ANSYS and 3D modelling software such as NX Unigraphics
  • Experience with structural component design and analysis
