About The Role
Reports To: Senior Revenue Accounting Manager or Director of Revenue Accounting
Job Summary
The Senior Revenue Accountant plays a critical role in the Company's revenue accounting function, ensuring accurate and timely revenue recognition in accordance with U.S. GAAP, specifically ASC 606. This position is responsible for managing complex revenue transactions, reviewing customer contracts, performing technical accounting analyses, supporting month-end and quarter-end close activities, and partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with accounting policies and business objectives. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented accounting professional with strong analytical skills, technical accounting expertise, and the ability to drive process improvements in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue close processes, including preparation and review of revenue journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Perform detailed analyses of revenue transactions to ensure accurate revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606 and company accounting policies.
- Review and interpret customer contracts, amendments, and commercial arrangements to determine appropriate accounting treatment and document revenue recognition conclusions.
- Prepare and maintain technical accounting memoranda supporting complex revenue transactions and accounting positions.
- Partner with Sales, Legal, Commercial Operations, and Customer Success teams to evaluate contract structures and ensure compliance with revenue recognition requirements.
- Analyze deferred revenue, contract assets, contract liabilities, and other revenue-related balance sheet accounts.
- Support the preparation and review of financial statements, management reporting packages, and revenue analytics.
- Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of revenue accounting operations.
- Assist in the development, maintenance, and monitoring of internal controls over revenue recognition and financial reporting.
- Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external auditors by providing audit support, technical analyses, and revenue-related documentation.
- Research and assess the impact of new accounting standards, regulatory changes, and emerging industry practices related to revenue accounting.
- Collaborate with FP&A and business leaders to provide insights into revenue trends, forecasting assumptions, and business performance.
- Mentor and provide guidance to staff accountants and other team members, supporting their professional development and ensuring adherence to accounting policies.
- Participate in system implementations, automation initiatives, and special projects related to revenue accounting and financial reporting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- CPA certification or active progress toward certification strongly preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant experience in revenue accounting and revenue recognition.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and ASC 606 revenue recognition principles.
- Experience reviewing complex customer contracts and applying technical accounting guidance.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial data analysis.
- Experience with ERP systems and revenue accounting software such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Workday, or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise professional judgment, and proactively identify and resolve issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Public accounting experience, preferably with exposure to revenue recognition and technical accounting engagements.
- Experience in life sciences, technology, SaaS, healthcare, or other industries involving complex revenue arrangements.
- Experience with SOX compliance and internal controls over financial reporting.
- Experience participating in ERP implementations, system enhancements, or accounting process automation initiatives.

Additional Info
The annualized base salary range for this role is $81,900 to $128,100 and is bonus eligible. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, geography, education, business needs and market demand.
