About The Role

Key Responsibilities

  • Coating Materials Synthesis and Preparation: responsible for the synthesis and formulation of polymer coating materials. The candidate is expected to rigorously follow work instructions, ensuring consistency and adherence to performance specifications. The candidate is expected to work closely with operations and R&D teams.
  • Quality Control (QC) Testing: responsible for measuring defined properties of coating materials by following work instructions to ensure compliance with the QC protocol. Some of the tests include but are not limited to:
  • FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy) for chemical characterization.
  • Refractometer for refractive index measurements.
  • Durometer for hardness testing.
  • Rheometer for viscosity and rheological property evaluations.
  • Production Support: Participate in Quality audits to ensure compliance with work instructions and quality standards of final products.
  • Laboratory Maintenance: Responsible for maintaining a well-organized, clean, and efficient coating laboratory. Apply Lean principles (6S, etc) to strive towards manufacturing excellence, high yield and reduce cost.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Responsible for maintaining detailed records of production and R&D activities, ensuring data integrity and compliance with company standards.
  • Safety Compliance: Expected to follow established site safety protocols. Share suggestions for continuous improvement with our safety team and promote a culture of safety within the laboratory environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education:
  • Some college preferred
  • Experience:
  • 2-4 years of experience in a laboratory environment
  • Preferred Skills and Competencies:
  • Experience in materials synthesis and coating formulation blending, particularly for production environments.
  • Hands-on experience with QC instruments, including FTIR, refractometer, durometer, viscometer, and rheometer.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Adherence to Lean manufacturing principles and 6S practices.
