About The Role
Holds advising appointments with individual students in order to: Assess individual students' stage of development (academic and career) and promotes their growth by determining suitable developmental tasks. Supports students in establishing realistic and attainable academic and career goals by assisting undergraduate students in determining educational plans, choosing courses, and exploring majors, minors, and career options Counsels students on options to satisfy degree requirements. Monitors students' academic progress, determines satisfactory progress toward degree, and assists students in completion. Evaluates use of transfer credit and determines applicability to degree requirements. Utilize UA systems (UAccess Student, AAR, Trellis) to monitor academic progress and maintain advising records Curriculum and Policy Interpretation Interpret and explain University, College, and School-level academic policies and procedures. Evaluate transfer credits and petitions, determine progress toward degree completion, and prepare degree audits. Collaborate with advising team, Associate Director of Advising, and program faculty to ensure consistency in advising practices across programs. Student Engagement and Retention Implement student success initiatives focused on retention and persistence. Participate in orientations. Participate in supporting graduation and other milestone events in the college or schools. Engage with community college partners. Refer students to relevant academic and campus resources to support their holistic development. Administrative Coordination and Reporting Maintain accurate student records, notes, and reports in advising databases. Support the coordination of curriculum and scheduling changes with academic departments. Provide data insights related to advising trends, student outcomes, and academic bottlenecks. Other Duties as Assigned Participate in college- and university-level advising initiatives. Serve on school, college or university-level committees. Attend professional development opportunities. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): Ability to work independently and take initiative. Problem solving and creative thinking skills. Effective organization skills. High degree of professionalism in written and oral communication combined with a team-focused orientation to the work. Ability to new learn new policies, procedures, and technological systems. Knowledge of advising practices and principles.
