The Opportunity |Te kōwhiringa

We are looking for an experienced leader to join the Auckland team as a Chipsealing Supervisor overseeing civil roading works and outcomes. You will bring a strong focus to the delivery of project requirements, optimisation of resources and the achievement of targeted results.

As a core member of our Sealing department, you’ll be responsible for ensuring a positive Zero Harm culture is championed and enhanced.

A key part of the 2026 role is the daily use of the Downer Sealing Delivery Hub. This includes checking the delivery pathway from site list and master data through planning, pre-seal inspections, go/no-go decisions, sealing records, post-seal inspections and close-out actions.

Ensure our key customer relationships are strengthened and foster a “leading through collaboration” and “best for network” approach. Day to day you will:

  • Provide training and development for staff
  • Successfully plan projects and resource programmes of work to ensure your team can deliver work efficiently
  • Organise, direct and control all activities and operations of crew, to ensure that work is completed on time with a high level of quality
  • Oversee cost management, tracking expenditure and revenue to meet budgets and ensure claims accounted for.

Important Skills | Nga pūkenga matua

As an experienced leader in the roading, construction, civil or drainage industry, you’ll bring with you a proven track record of supervising teams and subcontractors in a range of maintenance and construction activities. We’d also value:

  • Your in-depth knowledge of the construction industry including road sealing and general road maintenance activities
  • Professional yet approachable communication skills
  • A focus and passion for keeping people safe and environmental impacts to a minimum
  • Demonstrated leadership behaviours that empower others to do their best and develop their skillset
  • Strong planning skills with the ability to problem solve on the fly
  • The ability to drive project completion within specified time frames
