Downer's Energy & Utilities team is looking for an experienced Line Mechanic to join our Coromandel team. In this role, you'll provide quality workmanship across the construction, maintenance, fault diagnosis, and rectification of network equipment and installations, helping keep local communities connected and powered.

Working across the network, you'll undertake installation and maintenance activities in accordance with industry standards, work practices, and regulatory requirements. You'll play an important role in identifying and implementing risk control measures, maintaining safe work practices, and delivering work to a high standard.

This is a hands-on role offering a variety of work, including planned maintenance, construction activities, fault response, and network repairs. You'll work alongside a skilled and supportive team while building strong relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

  • To be successful in this role, you'll bring a strong safety focus, excellent workmanship, and experience working within the electricity industry.

Essential

  • Relevant Electrical Registration and current Practising Licence, or meet the requirements to obtain one upon employment
  • NZQA Level 4 qualification or equivalent
  • Current Class 2 Driver Licence
  • Sound knowledge of the Safety Manual Electricity Industry (SMEI) and safe practices for low-voltage electrical work
  • Commitment to working within Zero Harm and client safety systems
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including completion of work documentation, WMS and JSEAs
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform under pressure
  • Proven ability to build positive relationships with clients, stakeholders and members of the public

Desirable

  • Heavy Trade Licence
  • Extensive electricity industry experience
