Manual Machinist – Precision Manufacturing

Job Type: Contract-to-Hire

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–4:30 PM (10-hour shifts)
  • Overtime: Saturdays as needed
  • Starting Pay: From $24.00 per hour, with higher pay available based on experience.

Position Overview

We are hiring a skilled Manual Machinist to produce precision-machined components using manual machining equipment. This role is ideal for someone with experience working from blueprints, maintaining tight tolerances, and producing quality parts in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret machining blueprints and shop drawings.
  • Set up and operate manual lathes, milling machines, and drill presses.
  • Machine components to required specifications and dimensions.
  • Hold machining tolerances as close as .0005" when required.
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools, including:
  • Calipers
  • Micrometers
  • Dial bore gauges
  • Additional precision measuring instruments
  • Produce accurate, high-quality parts while meeting production expectations.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area by following established safety procedures.
  • Demonstrate dependable attendance and punctuality.

Qualifications

  • Experience operating manual lathes, mills, and drill presses.
  • Ability to read and understand machining blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of precision measurement and machining tolerances.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Schedule

  • Monday–Friday: 6:00 AM–4:30 PM
  • 10-hour shifts
  • Saturday overtime available as business needs require
