About the Role

  • A highly motivated, detail-oriented, and self-starting Paralegal is needed to support a
  • California-based law firm handling a broad range of civil matters, including trademark law and
  • federal litigation.
  • This role plays a key part in delivering high-quality legal services by supporting attorneys with
  • document preparation, case management, client communication, and day-to-day legal
  • operations. The paralegal will work closely with the legal team to ensure cases are properly
  • organized, deadlines are met, and all legal documentation is accurate and compliant.
  • The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, reliable and comfortable working in a fast-paced
  • legal environment, with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining strong
  • attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

Legal & Trademark Research

  • Conduct legal research, including case law, statutes, and procedural rules relevant to federal litigation matters
  • Monitor trademark application status and respond to research requests from attorneys regarding filings, oppositions, and renewals

Legal Document Preparation & Drafting

  • Prepare and manage discovery responses, including completion of discovery questionnaires
  • Draft, review, and organize legal documents such as pleadings, affidavits, and briefs
  • Ensure all documents are properly formatted, accurate, and ready for submission
  • Draft and prepare trademark application materials, responses to USPTO Office Actions, Statements of Use, and renewal filings

Case & File Management

  • Organize and maintain case files, records, and legal documentation
  • Track deadlines, filings, and case progress to ensure timely completion
  • Manage correspondence and documentation related to ongoing cases

Client Communication & Support

  • Communicate with clients to gather information and conduct initial interviews
  • Provide updates on case progress and assist with client inquiries
  • Maintain professional and clear communication throughout the case lifecycle
  • Communicate with clients, courts, and opposing counsel.

Filing & Court/USPTO Coordination

  • E-file pleadings and litigation documents via federal court systems (e.g., CM/ECF)
  • File trademark applications and related submissions through the USPTO's TEAS system
  • Track and calendar filing deadlines, including trademark opposition periods and renewal windows, to ensure timely submission

Legal Coordination & Administrative Support

  • Coordinate with attorneys regarding document filings and compliance requirements
  • Assist with day-to-day case preparation and administrative legal tasks
  • Support internal workflows to ensure smooth case progression

Qualifications & Ideal Traits

  • Prior experience as a Paralegal is required
  • Experience working with a U.S. law firm is required (California experience is a plus)
  • Experience in Trademark law & Trademark Application of USPTO and/or Federal Litigation is an advantage
  • Law degree or legal education is a plus but not required
  • Strong understanding of legal terminology, procedures, and documentation
  • Reliable and must have good communication skills (Ideally fluent in English)

  • Fully remote role supporting a California-based law firm
  • Full-time schedule: 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM PST (Monday to Friday)
