Your future role at a glance Location: Remote Department: Ascension Pharmacy Services Schedule: Day shift | Full-Time | Monday to Friday Salary: $23.14 - $32.26 (per hour) How you'll make an impact in this role Serves as a key liaison between patients, providers, payers, and internal clinical teams to manage clinical intake, insurance verification, prior authorization, and medical necessity validation. Execute end-to-end financial clearance, including clinical intake and rigorous benefit verification. Secure and organize clinical substantiation, such as Letters of Medical Necessity and diagnostic results, to ensure alignment with payer policies and NCCN guidelines. Initiate and track prior authorization requests through payer portals (e.g., Availity, Evicore, New Century), ensuring all submissions meet "Clean Order" criteria. Maintain oversight of authorization statuses and expiration timelines to prevent lapses in care or "false approvals." Generate "Good Faith Estimates" and coordinate with Patient Assistance teams to identify co-pay cards, grants, or "free drug" programs. Track insurance changes to ensure ongoing eligibility and alignment with shifting "preferred drug" lists and site-of-care requirements. Manage the electronic and paper intake work queues, maintaining "First-In, First-Out" integrity while escalating urgent requests per national SOPs. What minimum qualifications you'll need Licensure / Certification / Registration: One or more of the following required: Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the National Healthcareer Association obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Education: High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. What additional requirements you'll need Minimum 2 years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle, patient access, pharmacy billing, or prior authorizations. Experience with oncology or specialty infusion authorizations, J-code billing, and Buy & Bill vs. White Bagging workflows.
