Research Assistant (26270129)
The Academy of Geography, Sociology and International Studies, would like to invite applications for a Research Assistant with a strong interest in family demography, population ageing, and quantitative research using longitudinal panel data.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Principal Investigator on research projects related to intergenerational support, family relationships, and population ageing;
- Assist with the harmonisation, management, and analysis of large-scale longitudinal ageing surveys, particularly the Health and Retirement Study (HRS) in the United States and the Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE);
- Conduct data cleaning, variable construction, consistency checks, and documentation related to data harmonisation;
- Assist with statistical analyses and the preparation of tables, figures, and other research outputs; and
- Conduct literature reviews on relevant research topics.
Requirements
- A master’s degree in Sociology, Demography, Statistics, Data Science, Social Policy, Public Health, Economics, or a related discipline;
- Strong quantitative research and data management skills;
- Proficiency in Stata and/or R (preferably Stata);
- Experience working with longitudinal/panel datasets;
- Experience with large-scale ageing surveys would be an advantage;
- Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills; and
- Good command of written and spoken English.

- The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.
- Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
