Site Director (PT)- Before & After Care

About The Role
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Directs part-time all aspects of the Before/After School Program at a school site.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Primary – Program
- Plan and coordinate daily activities, including CATCH, STEM and Reading programs.
- Maintain a safe, nurturing environment, ensuring a high level of program quality.
- Ensure all program areas and equipment are kept clean and safe.
- Encourage respect for personal property, program equipment and school facilities.
- Monitor sign in/sign out procedures for accuracy; maintain daily attendance records.
- Enforce appropriate safety regulations/emergency procedures.
- Comply/enforce all Mississippi Department of Human Services licensing requirements.
- Attend all required staff trainings and weekly site director meetings.
- Assume other duties identified as program changes/evolves to meet the needs of the families
served.
- Accurately report work time via approved YMCA Clocking Method: branch kiosk, YMCA site phone,
YMCA iPad or time sheet.
Children/Parents/School Administration
- Establish positive relationships with all program participants and their families and with school
administration.
- Provide positive role models to children and staff within the philosophy of YMCA standards and
expectations.
- Observe children’s behavior, assess its appropriateness and apply appropriate behavior
management techniques when needed.
Supervisory
- Supervise Group Leaders, providing leadership and guidance.
- Conduct bi-weekly site staff meetings.
- Assist program director with annual site staff evaluations.
- Maintain current staff files/records in compliance with DHS standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be 21 years of age and pass pre-employment background checks/drug screening.
- Four years of college with 2 years of experience administering a child care/educational program, which
includes staff supervisory experience OR
- Two years of college with 30 hours in business or management, child or youth development, or related
- field and 2 years experience administering a child care/educational program, which includes staff
- supervisory experience OR
- High school diploma with 4 years experience administering a child care/educational program and 30
hours of TECTA administrator or Child Development Associate (CDA); staff supervisory experience.
- Current CPR/AED, First Aid and Child Abuse Training or obtain with 30 days of hire date.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift/carry food and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to lift/assist a small to average child.
- Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.
- Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
- Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an
emergency
