Job Summary The Department of Management and Supply Chain at East Tennessee State University (ETSU) in Johnson City, Tennessee, invites applications for a 9-month academic, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Management (Hospitality & Tourism Management). The position may begin in Spring 2027 or Fall 2027, depending on candidate availability and departmental needs. The successful candidate will support program needs at ETSU's main campus in Johnson City and may also teach or provide support at the Sevierville Center. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to teach, conduct high-quality research, and actively engage in institutional, professional, and community service activities, including student recruitment and continuous program improvement. The College of Business and Technology at East Tennessee State University is AACSB accredited. CBAT employs approximately 100 full-time faculty members and serves over 3,000 students. Undergraduate concentrations are offered in accounting, computing, digital media, economics and finance, management, marketing, media and communications, military science, sports and recreation management, supply chain, as well as master’s degrees in accountancy, brand strategy, business administration, digital marketing, and digital media. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to develop and maintain a high-quality research agenda. Ability to teach both online and in-person. Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance student learning and support departmental, programmatic, and college-wide initiatives. Ability to teach hospitality and tourism management courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels Ability to produce high-quality publications relevant to their courses and the strategic goals of the college (i.e., also an AACSB requirement). Knowledge and ability to use technology in various teaching modalities. Commitment to serving the university, college, department, and the professional community. Required Qualifications Earned Ph.D. or DBA in Hospitality and Tourism Management, Management, or a closely related field from an AACSB-accredited institution (or equivalent). Preferred Qualifications A strong record of scholarly research, demonstrated by publications in high-quality academic journals (e.g., those listed on the ABDC journal list) and evidence of an active research agenda. Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching management courses at undergraduate and graduate levels, with experience in curriculum development or improvement. Experience integrating emerging technologies (e.g., AI, simulation platforms) into teaching and learning environments. Relevant professional or industry experience in hospitality and tourism management. Experience contributing to program innovation or interdisciplinary collaborations.
