About The Role
KingsIsle Entertainment is seeking a VFX Artist who will create fun and stunning FX in our classic MMO projects as well as interesting new projects that are in the works. The perfect candidate is experienced with creating a variety of FX within various programs and Engines.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- VFX Creation using 3DSmax, Adobe Photoshop, Unity and other proprietary art tools.
- Work from provided concept art and from verbal / written art direction.
- Work with other disciplines to make sure FX work aligns with the style and theme that is required (including both Whimsical and Realistic).
- Undergo review stages of the VFX and further polish process as requested.
- Learn to bring over and update legacy work from our older MMO’s so that match a new style and properly work in the Unity pipeline.
- Keep organized and well labeled files and maintain / work within an established file structure.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
1+ years creating professional VFX assets in the game industry.
Confident in 3DS Max and building FX geometries to complement particle systems.
Solid FX particle texture creation skills using Adobe Photoshop.
Knowledgeable in the Unity workflow and of the Shuriken particle systems.
Well established understanding of the Unity prefab system
Understanding of Unity shader graph system is a plus.
A good feel for timing and motion within animation of physics-based particles.
Experience with .DDS files and the Gambryo game engine are a plus.
Strong time management skills with the ability to multitask requirements and feedback gathering across disciplines, assess risk, define priorities, and resolve problems while meeting deadlines.
Excellent critical and analytical skills, and a high attention to detail.
Strong English written and verbal communication.

- Demonstrates characteristics to work respectfully and effectively with all levels of employees within the Art Team as well as with other departments to achieve mutual goals.
- The ability to handle multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment while remaining calm and positive under pressure and meet tight deadlines at all times.
- Must have excellent attention to detail, accuracy, use good artistic judgment, prioritization skills and be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
- High degree of professionalism and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to work night shifts in order to overlap in US working hours and interact live with US based studio.
