Team Lead Devops

About The Role
What you'll do
- Lead a squad of Site Reliability Engineers, providing day-to-day technical direction, mentorship, and career development support.
- Conduct effective daily passdowns — ensuring shift handoffs, ongoing work, blockers, and risks are clearly communicated across the team and to leadership.
- Maintain continuous, transparent communication with the Infrastructure Manager and peer Team Lead on team health, sprint progress, and emerging issues.
- Design, scale, and operate resilient cloud-native infrastructure in AWS with emphasis on EKS, IAM, RBAC, and security-first practices.
- Own observability across the stack using Datadog (metrics, logging, alerting, and tracing) and drive continuous improvement of monitoring coverage.
- Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions and GitHub Advanced Security, enabling velocity without compromising safety.
- Participate in on-call rotations, postmortems, and continuous improvement efforts — always with a blameless, team-first mindset.
- Facilitate blameless postmortems, drive follow-through on action items, and lead incident response when severity demands it.
- Run or contribute to Agile ceremonies (standups, sprint planning, retrospectives) with focus and purpose, ensuring the board reflects reality.
What you'll bring
- 6+ years of practical experience in a SRE / DevOps role supporting production cloud infrastructure at scale.
- 2+ years leading or formally mentoring a team of 3+ engineers (tech lead, team lead, or equivalent responsibility).
- Extensive experience with Amazon EKS, VPC networking, Secrets Manager, IAM, and RBAC.
- Extensive experience working with Terraform, Terragrunt, Vault, Helm, and container orchestration.
- Extensive experience with CI/CD platforms (e.g. GitHub Actions, Argo CD) including GitHub Advanced Security features.
- Strong Datadog experience — building dashboards, tuning alerts, setting up monitors, and interpreting telemetry.
- Demonstrated ability to run structured, effective daily standups and shift passdowns that surface the right information to the right people.
- Strong written and verbal communication; ability to brief up to leadership and translate down to actionable work for the team.
Preferred Experience
- Amazon AWS DevOps Engineer Professional Certification.
- Experience with Amazon AWS Lambda, Fargate, and serverless infrastructure.
- HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2, or other regulatory and compliance knowledge and experience.
- Experience with multitenant platforms or customer-isolated deployments.
