Senior Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Engineer based in India.

This is a senior AI/ML engineering opportunity focused on designing and delivering intelligent, production-ready applications with global impact. You’ll play a key role in developing generative AI solutions, particularly Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)-based chatbots and other LLM-powered applications. The role combines hands-on engineering in Python and Java with machine learning, deep learning, cloud deployment, and scalable system architecture. You’ll work within cross-functional teams to translate complex business requirements into reliable AI-driven products. Beyond individual contribution, you’ll mentor engineers and help establish strong engineering and AI development practices. Accountabilities

• Lead the design, development, and delivery of AI-driven applications, with a particular focus on RAG-based chatbot and generative AI solutions.
• Architect scalable, reliable, maintainable AI and software solutions using Python and Java.
• Develop and integrate machine learning, deep learning, NLP, vector database, embedding, and LLM capabilities into production applications.
• Deploy, manage, monitor, and optimize AI applications on cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS and Azure.
• Ensure efficient use of cloud resources while maintaining application performance, reliability, scalability, and cost effectiveness.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, data, and other cross-functional teams to gather requirements, define scope, and deliver high-quality technical solutions.
• Lead technical deliverables and contribute to architectural and implementation decisions throughout the project lifecycle.
• Mentor team members on software engineering practices, AI/ML methodologies, development standards, and cloud deployment strategies.
• Drive solution quality through testing, debugging, performance optimization, documentation, and continuous improvement.
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies, frameworks, and methodologies and identify opportunities to incorporate them into products and solutions.
• Contribute to Agile development practices and promote effective collaboration across distributed teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in AI/ML engineering or a closely related field.
• Strong programming skills in Python and Java, with experience applying them to production-grade software and AI solutions.
• Proven hands-on experience building RAG-based chatbots, generative AI applications, or comparable LLM-powered solutions.
• Strong proficiency with cloud platforms, particularly AWS and Azure, including deploying and operating AI/ML workloads.
• Solid understanding of artificial intelligence and machine learning concepts, including NLP, vector databases, embedding models, and LLM integrations.
• Practical experience with AI/ML frameworks and libraries such as Hugging Face Transformers, TensorFlow, PyTorch, LangChain, or comparable technologies.
• Experience leading technical projects or teams and managing complex technical deliverables.
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles, scalable architecture, testing, debugging, and performance optimization.
• Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies.
• AWS certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect or AWS Machine Learning Specialty are preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to break down complex technical challenges into practical solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional and distributed teams.
• Curiosity and willingness to stay current with rapidly evolving AI technologies and apply relevant innovations to real-world products.
