About The Role
The Stores clerk performs a variety of duties to support the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy stores. Responsibilities include arranging drugs in shelves according to FIFO, updating stock cards, offloading supplies, conducting monthly physical inventory count, records keeping and keeping the stores clean and tidy. This role requires Physical fitness and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Key responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and verify all pharmaceutical products and medical supplies against delivery notes and purchase orders.
- Keep the pharmacy stores clean, organized, and secure always.
- Arrange drugs and medical supplies on shelves according to the First In, First Out (FIFO) and First Expiry, First Out (FEFO) principles.
- Offload, label, and safely store incoming supplies in designated storage areas.
- Assist in conducting routine, monthly, quarterly, and annual physical stock counts.
- Issue drugs and medical supplies to hospital wards, clinics, and the Ministry of Health (MOH) pharmacy as authorized.
- Maintain accurate records of all stock received, issued, transferred, returned, and disposed of.
- Assist in the safe disposal of expired, damaged, or obsolete pharmaceutical products in accordance with organizational policies.
- Ensure medicines are stored under the recommended conditions, including monitoring storage temperatures where applicable.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of pharmacy records and stock.
- Report any discrepancies, losses, breakages, or suspected theft immediately to the supervisor.
- Comply with all pharmacy, health, and safety procedures and guidelines.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor that are relevant to the position

Requirements
- Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or its equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of storekeeping and inventory management.
- Ability to maintain accurate stock records and stock cards.
- Understanding of FEFO (First-Expired, First-Out) stock management principles.
- Good organizational and filing skills.
- At least 1–2 years' experience working in a pharmacy, hospital store, warehouse, or medical stores environment.
- Physically fit and able to offload and move supplies.
