Position Summary

  • The Solar Coordinator – Permitting is responsible for managing the permitting process for residential and/or
  • commercial solar projects. This role ensures timely submission, tracking, and approval of permit applications to
  • support smooth project execution. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to effectively
  • communicate with internal teams, municipalities, and utility authorities.

Essential Duties

  • Prepare and submit permit applications to local jurisdictions for solar, electrical, and structural approvals.
  • Monitor permit status and follow up proactively to ensure timely approvals.
  • Communicate with city/county offices to clarify requirements, resolve issues, and track changing codes or

documentation.

  • Coordinate with design, engineering, and sales teams to obtain and validate required documents (e.g.,

site plans, structural letters, utility applications).

  • Maintain accurate records and databases of permitting statuses and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Troubleshoot rejected or delayed permits and escalate issues when needed.
  • Track timelines and provide regular updates to project management and operations teams.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and national codes and regulations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with permitting authorities and inspection offices.
  • Assist with special permitting projects (e.g., Title 24, AHJ research, policy changes).

Minimum Qualifications

  • 1+ year of experience in permitting, solar, construction, utilities, or a related administrative field.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.• Ability to handle high volumes of documentation with accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and/or CRM tools.
  • Knowledge of solar installation processes and permitting requirements.
  • Experience with AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction) in multiple regions.
  • Familiarity with utility interconnection processes and solar design software.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Regular periods of sitting
  • or standing may be required by this position. In addition, this position requires the ability to occasionally lift office
  • products and supplies, up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to
  • adjust focus.
