About Our Family
We’re a family of three, plus one very beloved doodle, based in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn. Both parents work full-time, so our weekdays can move quickly. Between work, school, activities, an energetic dog, and a second home where we spend much of the summer, there’s a lot going on. We’re looking for someone who can step into that rhythm, make things a little easier, and become a steady presence in our home.
Our 10-year-old daughter is social, curious, and independent, and we want her to truly enjoy the person who is part of her day. We love good food, time together, and a home that feels lived-in and welcoming. We’re the kind of family who appreciates someone who takes pride in what they do, enjoys the people they work with, and becomes part of the everyday life of our home rather than simply coming in and out of it. We’re hoping to find someone who feels at home in our home and becomes a natural, trusted part of our family’s life.
We’re hardworking but laid-back, with a straightforward communication style and a lot of respect for the people who work with us. We’ll give you the context and direction you need to learn our routines, and once you’re settled in, we trust you to use your judgment and take ownership. We’re looking for someone who wants to stay for the long term, takes pride in what they do, and enjoys being the person who makes a busy day feel a little easier.
Who You Are / What We're Looking For
You have experience supporting a busy household, family, or similar environment where organization, follow-through, and initiative matter. You’re comfortable balancing childcare and family support with hands-on household responsibilities such as meal preparation, laundry, errands, organization, and keeping the home reset and running smoothly. You’re organized and detail-oriented, and you enjoy creating systems that make everyday life work better. You’re warm, responsible, and someone who authentically enjoys being around children and dogs. You’re happy to play with a child, hang out, and be engaged in her day, while also knowing when she needs space or independence. You communicate clearly, are comfortable asking for direction when needed, and once you understand what’s expected, you’re able to work independently without needing to be told what to do next. You take pride in being dependable and punctual, and if something unexpected comes up, you communicate proactively and respectfully.
You’re looking for a long-term position where you can become a trusted part of a family’s life. You understand that the role may evolve as you learn the household, and you’re comfortable with a ramp-up period where everyone is getting to know one another. Above all, you bring a positive attitude, good judgment, and a genuine desire to make the family's life easier — whether that means helping with an afternoon pickup, getting dinner started, tackling a load of laundry, or simply being the reliable person they know they can count on.
