About The Role

Role: Sr. Executive Factory IT Location: Auric, Bidkin, Aurangabad Reporting to: IT Infrastructure General Manager Team name: IT Infrastructure Team About the Team and the Role The IT Infrastructure Team team at Ather is responsible for ensuring robust server health, seamless system integration, and uninterrupted shop floor operations in automated manufacturing environments. This role is for a Sr. Executive Factory IT who will serve as a critical line of defense for smart factory operations, focusing on Linux system administration, database management, and real-time Manufacturing Execution System (MES) support to keep factory lines running smoothly. Responsibilities Manage Linux application and database servers supporting the MES environment, tracking CPU, memory, and disk IO performance to prevent latency on assembly lines. Manage database instances (MSSQL, MySQL, or TSDBs) and filesystem storage (LVM, NFS) storing historical production logs and batch records. Execute scheduled rolling updates, system security patches, and automated backup routines without disrupting continuous 24/7 manufacturing shifts. Address L1/L2/L3 shop floor incidents, including barcode scanner connection drops, recipe download failures, lot/part tracking stalls, or dispatch order errors. Maintain system connectivity between the MES layer and lower-level shop floor automation tools (PLCs, SCADA, DCS, OPC UA servers) as well as higher-level ERPs. Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot operator Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) and industrial touchscreens running Linux. Write Bash, Python, or Perl scripts to automate log cleanup, monitor communication ports, restart failed middleware daemons, and sync data files. Directly manage a team of IT/MES Support Engineers and technicians, including shift rosters, performance reviews, and skill development. Experience and Qualifications Degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent practical experience. 6–8 years of experience as Linux Administration, with added advantage in IT/OT application support, industrial automation, or Linux system engineering within a manufacturing setting. 3-4 years hands-on experience in Infrastructure Support. Must Have Competencies Linux Administration across enterprise distributions including RHEL, Rocky Linux, Ubuntu Server, and SUSE, utilizing systemd, cron, LVM, and SSH. MES platform administration and troubleshooting across systems like Critical Manufacturing, Siemens Opcenter, AVEVA, Rockwell FTPC, or Apriso. Advanced scripting and automation using Bash, Python, SQL, Ansible, Docker, or Kubernetes for system monitoring and data sync. Management and maintenance of database systems including PostgreSQL, MSSQL, MySQL, and Active Directory/LDAP integrations. Good to have Competencies Configuration and management of load balancing technologies like HAProxy, Clustering, and Linux Base Application Load Balancers. Implementation of IT infrastructure protocols involving Networking, TCP/IP, and server/storage troubleshooting. Alignment with industrial automation integration standards such as ISA-95 and ISA-88. Possession of relevant certifications including RHCSA, CompTIA Linux+, ITIL v4 Foundation, or ISA-95 Design/Implementation Training. Want to know more?
