QualificationsPOSITION SUMMARY

This position will maintain all grounds maintenance equipment and vehicles for Grounds contracts. Perform repairs and maintenance of small engines to complex hydraulic systems and ensure equipment is in working order. Support the organization in its mission to help change lives through the power of work.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform repairs on fractional-horsepower diesel/gasoline engines used to power lawnmowers, tractors, weed-eaters, and other hand and pneumatic tools.

Trouble-shoot equipment problems, dismantles engines, and examine parts for defects and diagnosis to repair or replace. Overhaul engines and rebuilds as necessary. Perform minor welding as required.

Perform “in field” repairs of mowing and small equipment.

Test equipment following repair and prior to issuing to grounds crews.

Maintain records related to equipment maintenance and repair activities.

Requisition parts and supplies and maintain sufficient parts inventory.

Communicate daily with equipment users, Project Manager, and administration, to discuss repairs, problems, and results.

Provide training to grounds personnel to ensure proper use of equipment.

Maintain an organized mechanic’s shop and mobile truck.

Adhere to all occupational safety program requirements.

Provide excellent customer service by greeting, assisting, and responding to questions and/or concerns in a positive, professional, and friendly manner.

REQUIREMENTS

Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible for a security clearance.

High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).

Formal training/education in mechanical repairs.

2+ years of related job experience.

3+ years of experience in maintenance/repair of grounds equipment. OR equivalent combination of education, experience and/or military training.

Basic welding and light fabrication (metal)

Good verbal and written communication skills

Skilled in the use of grounds maintenance equipment

Skilled in use of basic hand tools

Skilled in use of shop equipment

Analyze, evaluate situations, and develop alternatives for conflict resolution.

Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position.

For positions that require driving, must maintain a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance coverage, and be able to travel as needed if you drive your vehicle during company business.
