Thermal and Environmental Control System (ECS) Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Thermal and Environmental Control System (ECS) Engineer to support the development of next-generation eVTOL aircraft. This role focuses on ensuring robust thermal management and environmental control performance across system and component levels.

You will play a key role in defining, analyzing, and validating thermal architectures, contributing to certification readiness and safe operation under diverse environmental conditions.

Develop and design thermal management and Environmental Control System (ECS) architectures for eVTOL platforms

Perform 1D and 3D thermal simulations, including detailed CFD analysis (preferably using Star-CCM+)

Model and analyze heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and cooling strategies for avionics, batteries, and power electronics

Ensure alignment of thermal design with system-level requirements (performance, safety, durability, and reliability)

Correlate simulation results with test data, and refine models accordingly

Support and execute qualification and environmental testing (e.g., DO-160, MIL-STD-810)

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (structures, avionics, safety, certification)

Contribute to requirements definition, verification, and validation activities

Support development of certification documentation and compliance reports

Essential Skills

• 5+ years of experience in thermal engineering or related fields
• Strong knowledge of: Heat transfer, Fluid dynamics, Thermal management systems
• Proven experience in thermal CFD analysis (Star-CCM+ preferred)
• Experience with 1D and 3D simulation tools
• Demonstrated ability to correlate simulation results with experimental/test data
• Understanding of how system-level requirements impact modeling and design decisions
• Experience with environmental and qualification testing standards (DO-160)

Desirable Skills

• Familiarity with aerospace standards such as: SAE ARP4754 and SAE ARP4761
• Experience in ECS design for aerospace applications
• Knowledge of battery thermal management and high-voltage systems
• Experience supporting certification activities, including preparation of compliance documentation and verification reports

Working Hours

• Flextime or Discretionary labor system
