About The Role
BRAND MARKETING OFFICER (Payclass 8; Permanent) Brand and Stakeholder Relations unit Communication and Marketing Department (CMD) The Communication and Marketing Department (CMD) seeks to appoint a brand marketing professional with a solid foundation and well rounded understanding of marketing practice. The incumbent will be responsible for providing practical, administrative and project support to innovative campaigns and projects within a fast-paced environment The role is located in the Brand and Stakeholder Relations (BSR) unit within CMD - a collaborative team delivering integrated brand, reputation and stakeholder relations initiatives. This is an in-office position based at UCT’s campus precinct in Mowbray, Cape Town. Requirements for the post: NQF 6 qualification in either Marketing, Brand Management, Public Relations, Advertising, Retail Management or equivalent relevant qualification. At least 3 years’ relevant and direct work experience in integrated marketing, advertising, retail and e-commerce, and/or digital marketing. An understanding and intermediate knowledge of data gathering and analysis through relevant systems (e.g., Excel, Google Analytics, Data Studio, Planner, Shopify, Point-of- Sale software etc.). Excellent copywriting skills. An understanding of basic web functionality. Demonstratable experience and knowledge of two or more of the following: integrated marketing communications, stakeholder analyses and segmentation, retail and e-commerce project planning and implementation A valid code 08 driver’s licence and regular access to reliable transport. The following will be advantageous: Bachelor’s Degree (NQF 7) in Marketing, PR, Communications, Business Administration Experience in working in a similar environment or in a marketing, brand promotions, or advertising agency. A good understanding of the Higher Education environment specifically as it relates to Brand Management, Communications & Stakeholder Relations. Registration with MASA or PRISA Key responsibilities include: Assisting with developing and implementing appropriate, brand positioning and communication campaigns / projects for the university. Facilitating the production of promotional designs; writing copy for marketing and promotional material / channels; ensuring brand and style guide consistency throughout. Ensuring that all corporate merchandise, brand and promotional collateral are sourced and produced timeously; ensuring strict alignment to branded corporate identity guidelines including quality control. Supporting the team with the benchmarking, gathering insights and data analysis of all brand communications and promotional campaigns initiatives. Supporting the team with all related administrative and logistical tasks. Assisting with collation and submission of accurate finance-related documents for processing in a timeous manner. Regular updating and administration of UCT’s official merchandise e-commerce channel/s, retail stores, mobile pop-up shops as well as its data and reporting. Regular updating and administration of promotional content including but not limited to copy writing, reporting, e-commerce site updates and uploads, brand enquiries, branding collateral loans and troubleshooting.
