About The Role
Job Title: Direct Support Professional (DSP)
Reports To: Program Manager
Summary
Supports persons served as a mentor encouraging people to learn and practice skills needed to be successful in their home and community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide support to persons served.
- Teach each person served the skills needed to accomplish goals set in their Individual Service Plan (ISP).
- Document outcomes of ISP.
- Document facility safety practices, assessments, incident reports and daily logs.
- Supports persons served in development of connections/relationships in the community.
- Attend ISP meetings as requested.
- Attend monthly persons served Self Government meetings.
- Guide persons served in making responsible choices.
- Transports persons served as needed.
- Inform Program Coordinator of issues experienced by person served in ISP implementation.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent education level.
- 18 years or older.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain certification in CPR/First Aid.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Blood Borne Pathogens, Medication Administration,
- Systematic Instruction Strategies, Abuse/Neglect, HIPAA, Confidentiality, and Positive Behavior
- training.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Class E driver’s License.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain ServSafe Certification (if required).
- Must be able to pass a 10-panel drug test.
- Must pass a background check including criminal record and driving record.
- Ability to perform each essential duty and responsibility.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional teamwork and problem-solving abilities.
- Preferred: Experience working with people with developmental disabilities.
Physical Demands
- Prolonged periods of standing, sitting, and walking.
- Regularly required to talk or hear.
- Ability to use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds; this may be more with certain types of work
- assignments.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth
- perception, and ability to adjust focus.
