  • Salary: $89,517 - $111,896 Annually

Experienced Prosecutor Opportunity

The Third Judicial District Attorney's Office is seeking an experienced attorney to join our team as a Senior Trial Attorney.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned legal professional who is committed to public service, possesses strong courtroom advocacy skills, and is prepared to prosecute significant criminal cases while mentoring newer attorneys and working collaboratively with law enforcement partners.

Senior Trial Attorneys play a critical role in the Office's mission by handling complex criminal prosecutions, leading or assisting in felony trials, providing guidance to fellow prosecutors, and contributing to the administration of justice throughout Doña Ana County. This position offers meaningful courtroom experience combined with opportunities for professional growth, leadership, and community impact.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must possess

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in the State of New Mexico.
  • Minimum of four (4) years as a practicing attorney in criminal law or three (3) years as a prosecuting attorney.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference may be given to candidates with

  • Five (5) to seven (7) years or more of prosecution experience.
  • Experience handling felony jury trials.
  • Strong litigation and courtroom advocacy skills.
  • Experience mentoring attorneys or legal staff.
  • A demonstrated commitment to ethical prosecution and public service.
