Laboratory Technician II - Renaissance College

About The Role
Renaissance College is seeking to appoint a Laboratory Technician II to the Science Department.
The roles and responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to
- Support lab technician I in setting up major health and safety rules in the laboratory
- Provide risk assessment guidance for lessons
- Manage the disposal of chemicals properly
- Purchase and keep stores of apparatus, equipment and other inventory
- Prepare materials, chemicals and apparatus for lessons, as requested by teachers for the Science department (and other related subjects)
- Help students during lessons and demonstrate experiments to students
- Assist teachers in trialling new experiments to ensure they are safe and feasible
- Collaborate with the laboratory team to safety prepare and set up all practical materials and equipment for MYP and DP Science classes
- Help in the development of practical resources for MYP and DP students
- Support teachers with expertise in relevant technology (eg. Vernier data loggers)
- Commit to ongoing professional development and contribute to the sharing of best practices across the ESF school network
- Assist with preparation of the Annual Wishlist Items for the following year
- Assist in ad hoc projects when required
- Any other tasks as assigned by the Sciences Head of Department
Requirements
- Laboratory technician diploma/certificate or equivalent
- Relevant experience working with students from Year 7 to Year 13
- Fluent spoken and written English
- Good problem solving skills and ability to work independently
- Team player
- Possess the physical capability to transport laboratory equipment and materials across different floors
- Familiar with Vernier dataloggers, Google Suite and Microsoft Suite applications
- Be able to design systems or equipment for students’ use
- Able to work under pressure and within tight deadlines
Candidates with less experience will be considered as Lab Technician III

About the Team
