Regulatory Compliance Requirements
- Requires direct or indirect access to hardware, software, technology or technical data controlled under the Canadian Export Control List, the ITAR or the EAR.
- Requires a positive Controlled Goods assessment as you will have direct access to hardware, software, technology or technical data controlled under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program.
- Required to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance at the NATO Secret Level.
Position Summary
We have a current vacancy for a Maintenance Support Technician, an entry level development role designed for a motivated new graduate to assist in the management and resolution of maintenance activities identified onboard MWAV vessels r eporting to the Waterfront Manager.
This role assists with the preparation, execution, and close out of maintenance activities, including Preventative and Corrective maintenance, for all day-to-day data operations. The Maintenance Support Technician will also act as the key administrative link for the Service Delivery Team, assisting in organizing Objective Quality Evidence (OQE), taking meeting minutes and tracking defect workflows. This position offers a direct pathway to developing comprehensive marine maintenance and project coordination expertise.
Key Areas of Responsibility
The MWAV Maintenance Support Technician will be responsible for
- Assist in drafting Statements of Work (SOW) for defect resolution and reviewing maintenance instructions to ensure service providers have sufficient information to complete assigned tasks;
- Supporting the Ship Maintenance Leads in the tracking of documentation and notifications throughout Thales tools as required, supporting the alignment of technical databases to ensure data consistency across the fleet;
- Executing assigned actions in Thales tools to ensure workflow momentum for all maintenance activities and Quick Response defects assigned to the team;
- Assisting with the organizing of the necessary Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) to support the internal close-out processes and to assist in the consolidation of all work related documentation within Thales tools
- Attending weekly Plan of the Week (PLOW) meetings with internal and external stakeholders to assist with capturing, formatting and distributing accurate meeting minutes; and
- Assisting in gathering data and presentation of materials for the Material State Disclosure Conferences (MSDC) and key performance metric reviews.
- Health, Safety & Environment Comply with to all relevant HS&E legislative requirements, policies, procedures and framework with the intent of preventing or minimizing accidental exposures to self, colleagues, visitors and/or the environment.
- Promote Thales’s Health, Safety and Environmental programs by demonstrating HS&E Leadership in a professional and supportive manner.
- Other duties as assigned from time to time.
Minimum Qualifications
- A recent graduate possessing an Engineering Degree or a technical diploma in Project Management, Engineering Technology, Maritime Studies or a related marine technical field from a recognized university or college program;
- Demonstrated ability to work with and organize data sets with a high degree of accuracy;
- Strong communication and reporting skills with the ability to confidently interface between various internal and external stakeholders;
- Strong organizational and time management skills, capable of balancing multiple support priorities in a fast-paced waterfront environment;
- A natural collaborator who fosters cooperative working relationships across multi-disciplinary teams; and
- Strong computer literacy, with proven experience with Microsoft products especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint essential.
Preferred Qualifications
- A foundational understanding of Marine Maintenance, defect resolution or general project coordination principles is desirable.
- Previous experience with document management or enterprise systems (SAP/DRMIS, MAXIMO, JIRA) desirable.
- Prior co-op internship, or educational projects within the defense, military or marine maintenance /ship repair sectors desirable.

Special Position Requirements
Schedule: 40 Hours per week during Core Business Hours Monday-Friday.
Physical Environment: Office or onboard Naval ships alongside in harbor, or at sea, therefore must meet all federal government requirements to access Canadian government facilities, including naval dockyards
Will be required to undertake inspections, including confined space entry, on Naval ships involving bending and twisting. Tasks may also require working at heights.

The reference Total Target Compensation (TTC) market range for this position, inclusive of annual base salary and the variable compensation target, is between Total Target Cash (TTC) $55,000 - $65,000 CAD Annual.
