About The Role

The Land Legal Head will be responsible for the comprehensive management and execution of land-related legal matters in alignment with Adani’s operational and strategic goals. The role’s key responsibilities include:

  • Strategic Legal Leadership: Develop and implement robust legal strategies for land acquisition and management that align with Adani’s business objectives and compliance requirements.
  • Land Acquisition & Documentation: Oversee all legal documentation, agreements, and contracts related to land acquisition, lease, transfer, and use ensuring adherence to statutory provisions and timely approvals.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure strict compliance with central and state land laws, environmental regulations, and other statutory requirements relevant to thermal power projects.
  • Risk Management: Identify, analyze, and mitigate legal risks associated with land ownership, acquisition disputes, compensation matters, and regulatory challenges.
  • Litigation & Dispute Resolution: Manage and coordinate all litigation matters related to land disputes, representing or supervising external counsels, and strategizing effective resolution mechanisms.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise effectively with government authorities, local bodies, landowners, legal firms, and internal teams to facilitate smooth project progress and compliance adherence.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and build a high-performing legal team specializing in land laws and regulatory affairs, fostering a culture of integrity, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Policy Advocacy & Advisory: Provide expert advice on evolving land policies, advocate for favorable legislative changes, and develop internal policies to enhance legal preparedness and responsiveness.
  • Due Diligence & Audits: Conduct thorough legal due diligence for new projects and existing assets, and oversee periodic internal audits to ensure continuous compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with project, environmental, commercial, and corporate legal teams to ensure integrated legal support for all aspects of thermal power projects.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Prepare comprehensive reports on legal status, risk assessments, and project progress for senior management and board reviews, ensuring transparency and informed decision-making.
  • Ethical Standards & Corporate Governance: Champion adherence to Adani’s values and ethical standards, promoting a culture of transparency, fairness, and corporate governance excellence in all legal operations.
  • Degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized university
  • Advanced degrees (LLM or MBA with Law specialization) will be preferred
